Agarwoud Extrait de Parfums By Heeley
Heeley is James Heeley – a Yorkshire-born designer living and working in Paris who began ‘designing’ scents around 10 years ago. Inspired by nature, his fragrances – for men and women, the choice is yours – began in a light, natural way (Menthe Fraiche was one of the first) and gradually became more complex, culminating in his most recent collection: Extrait de Parfums. As one of the few owner-founder, independent luxury fragrance houses in Europe, Heeley has carte blanche to create whatever moves him and the results are unique and pretty special.
In their dark, solid glass, very heavy-lidded, classic bottles, the four fragrances are: L’Armandier, Bubblegum Chic, Phoenicia and Agarwoud and despite being curious about the Bubblegum option, I settled on trying Agarwoud, sensing that it would have that particular masculine appeal that also speaks to women. I wasn’t wrong. That will be the Bulgarian rose. While also being dark with its notes of oud, amber and benzoin, there’s no escaping that floral undertone here – so it wont be for those men who prefer their fragrances to hint of the sea or the forest. I love it. £170 - 50ml
