This week we have clocked something quite special when it comes to time management. In Roland Emmerich’s latest blockbuster movie ‘White House Down’ (due for UK release on 6 September) Channing Tatum attempts to save the US president with only his wits, weapons and his trusty men’s Bulova ‘hack’ watch. After an attack on The Whitehouse by paramilitary invaders, the storyline sees Tatum act to save the US president (Jamie Foxx) and protect national security.
The Bulova Hack watch worn by Tatum is a modern day homage to the original Hack watches worn by the U.S Army in WWII in order to accurately synchronise military missions. The term ‘hack’ literally means stopping to synchronise, and at the time of the war it was the only watch that had a unique lock down feature for the second hand, enabling soldiers to synchronise time exactly to the second.
Juxtaposing the idea behind the original watch, today’s version of The Hack offers all of its original features plus the conveniences of a modern day design, including a 40mm stainless steel case, black analogue dial with luminescent hands and water resistance to 30 metres. Retailing for a budget friendly £95, it really could be possible for you follow in Tatum’s footsteps to save the world with military precision! By Kathryn Bell.
