Last year Carven menswear was given a new lease of life by the arrival of creative director Barnabé Hardy, however, the Parisian house had already got the ball rolling by re-launching its two men’s fragrances – Carven Pour Homme and Vetiver – to a new audience. And now, just to show that they’re not letting the grass grown under their elegantly-shod feet, a new perfume for men is being introduced – L’Eau Intense.
The challenge was to create a fragrance that would be fresh… yet intense. From an olfactory point of view that might be seen as a contradiction in terms! But they have managed it. The freshness is instantly apparent with the opening notes of mint, Italian lemon and grapefruit and then the intensity builds gradually with hints of birch leaves and lavender. Then, as the scent settles on the skin, the combination of ginger, cardamom, cedarwood and ambery woods lets you know that this aromatic, spicy fragrance has seductive strength!

To celebrate the launch, Carven has teamed up with the store for a special offer., Fashion illustrator Sarah Smart will be on hand in all Selfridges department stores, to personalise purchasing customer’s Carven L’eau Intense white bottle. Customers can choose from one of four Carven inspired patterns and also add a personal touch such as theirs or their loved ones name or initials.
