PRINTS AND PATTERNS

Posted on June 9, 2011, by Gary Kingsnorth

With the summer season in full swing, show off the wardrobe you’ve been eagerly anticipating to wear, and with the city drenched in sunlight as your back drop, nothing will tell people you’ve arrived like an eye catching print. The catwalk was awash with psychedelic, geometric, ethnic and floral prints from the usual suspects Jil Sander,  Paul Smith, D&G, Dries Van Noten, Missoni, Duckie Brown, Etro, and while you might assume that the looks were overflowing with cross-eyed inducing chaos, they were actually refined, polished and tres sophisticated! The key to making it all look good is clever styling!

HOW TO WEAR:

All the amazing prints work well on the catwalk, but translating it to the side-walk is a different story. To make it wearable, the important rule is to know where to be loud and where to be quite, so if you’re wearing a printed shirt, pair with muted trousers that compliment the colours or vice versa, printed trousers calls for a plain t-shirt.
