A new name to the men’s grooming market, Harry’s gives every impression of being ‘up there’ with the niche brands. It’s clean, purposeful and slick looking, with a rather reassuring gravitas about it. The thing is though, the price of the razors and grooming products don’t reflect this. Hurrah!
Newly arrived from the US, the brand, founded by friends Andy Katz-Mayfield and Jeff Raider, set out to offer a ‘quality shave with an experience that hopefully men like’; performance products that you don’t have to overpay for.
Born in 2011, Harry’s range revolves around two razors, the Truman (£8) and the slightly more expensive Winston, both of which can come ready for action with extra cartridges and a Shave Gel or Cream.
And there’s a ‘Shave Plan’ which will deliver products to your door – beginning with a free trial set (just pay for delivery).

THE WINSTON SHAVE SET (which also comes with 3-blade cartridges and a travel blade cover), (£24):
This takes me back to the days of a shaving brush dipping into a pot of luxuriant cream. The balm quickly develops into a rich creamy lather with minimum effort and is a pleasant change to the clear gels, which can leave you unsure as to where it has been applied.
Razor (with Winston Razor handle
The razor itself is a joy to use. Its quality construction easily glides between bristles to plough a smooth and effortless path resulting in one of the closest and smoothest shaves I’ve had.
THE GROOMING PRODUCTS:
Face Wash (£6)
Lathers easily and richly and the gentle exfoliating ‘scrub’ leaves your face feeling totally refreshed and ready for the shave that is to follow.
Post Shave Balm (£4)
This is easily absorbed into the skin and is not heavily perfumed, so there’s no possibility of a clash with your own fragrance which you might use afterwards.
Face Lotion (£7)
The final part of the Harry’s shaving experience doesn’t disappoint either. It helpfully includes a 15 SPF so there’s no need to add a sun cream to one’s ablutions. It feels rich and luxuriant and while it’s quickly absorbed it leaves a smooth and gentle finish to remind you your face has had the ultimate morning makeover!
