Hendrick’s Gin has shot to fame recently over the last few years having risen to fame as the gin that is served with the slice of cucumber. You could say that this was revolutionary – before then no one would have made the pairing. The way that Hendricks is changing mini bar drinks in this instance is also pretty revolutionary, something that I can attest to as I had the luck to experience it first-hand.
Before we get any farther though I’ll point out that these mini bar options are only available in the suites at this particular EDITION hotel but are an option to add to a normal room at a cost.
The drinks that are yours to make, more on that later, are the Inspector Gimlet and the Caught By The Fizz. The call to make these was open to some of the bar staff at the hotel but the people that made the final decision were Davide Segat and David Piper. I’m sure that you’re wondering whom they might be; Davide is the hotel’s Bar Manager and David is the global ambassador for Hendrick’s.
Now the real draw for these new mini bar experiences, finally, is that you can mix your own drinks. You might think “Ughhhh” as soon as you read that but I can tell you that this is actually pretty straightforward to do. It’s as simple as opening some bottles, pouring the contents out in to either a mixing glass over ice and stirring or giving them a shake in the cocktail shaker and pouring in to an elegant glass. It’s actually dangerously easy.
This happy mix is going to remain available for the foreseeable future so if you’re in the EDITION then it’s worth either ordering or making use of. It also comes on a very fancy cart; really great presentation.
