INSTRMNT are a design collective that are based in Glasgow and have been founded by Pete Sunderland and Ross Baynham in late 2014.They have now launched a store on Glasgow's Parnie Street which is in Trongate. Trongate is a leading independent area in the city with stores, galleries and design practises in the city centre. Alongside their own brand's creations the INSTRMNT store will also carry Ajoto, Alice Made This, Campbell Cole, Folk, Edition Scotland, Hancock and Iona Brown. There is also a collaboration of curation between INSTRMNT and Invincible Bookshop to stock bi-annual magazines. The design led theme does not end there however as the store is furnished with pieces from Vitsoe and Hay and the lighting is provided by Folk. For all intents and purposes this sounds like Glasgow has just received a new and incredible store and a must see for anyone who is in to design that either is a resident or a tourist.
INSTRMNT's own line comprises so far of INSTRMNT 01 - a steel watch inspired by mid 20th century industrial design and INSTRMNT 02 - a two speed city bike which was designed with Freddie Grubb and each model is hand built in London. All of the above make this a definite on the 'to do list' for Glasgow.
