GROOMING By Belinda Morris
Nailing it… not just for the girls
I’m not about to advocate nail colour for men here (although I would never rule it out… each to his own I say) but nice nails? Well, that’s another matter altogether. It may be that you have the sort of job, or lifestyle, that means your hands get a battering and you don’t much mind how they look, but you ought to care if in the course of an average day your hands come under even the mildest scrutiny (shaking hands, signing documents, selling watches and jewellery…).
Why should it be just women who experience the pleasure and benefits of a manicure – indeed, speak to any manicurist and they will tell you that they’re increasingly seeing more male clients. Hurrah.
But maybe you don’t have time for such an indulgence. In which case you can still stuff to help your hands. I’ve just discovered Dr.’s Remedy – a range of enriched nail care treatments that you can apply yourself. I have dry, brittle nails that are prone to splitting and breaking so for the past four weeks have been using their Hydration Nail Moisture Treatment REM31 (£11.95), which is a natural nail conditioner which contains something called Biotin (part of the vitamin B complex) which improves strength and durability, and Pentavin which helps to deliver and retain moisture. It’s clear, dries quickly and leaves a slight lustre (as opposed to making nails look shiny… I promise).
After just two weeks I could see an improvement in my nails. Oh and if you are in the market for nail colour (perhaps a subtle nude…?) the nail polishes are all enriched too, with tea tree oil, wheat protein and vitamins.
