Realm & Empire and the Imperial War Museums have come together this winter to launch a one of a kind pop up shop located right around the corner from Covent Garden in Sevendials. Running until the end of the month the store has a carefully curated selection of Realm & Empire products and IWM products. The IWM stuff takes the form of items that have been inspired by the IWM archives, much like the Realm & Empire collection, and these range from a mug with the blueprints of a Spitfire Mk VI to bulldog salt and pepper pots which were inspired by Sir Winston Churchill. There are also cufflinks that are crafted from an evacuated Spitfire Mk 1.
This pop up is going to be an absolute go to for anyone who is trying to get a gift for someone who is in any way a military enthusiast. The Realm & Empire clothing that is on display is, having seen it first hand, incredible and finished to a wonderful quality and comes from the AW15 Flyers Collection which is inspired, funnily enough, by the RAF but also by the US air force crew's uniforms. Each garment has been inspired by the archive of military clothing at the IWM and each garment has interesting details. Shirts have extra shoulder panels that protected the backs of soldiers when carrying heavy packs and air craft nose art has been hand painted on to a beautiful A2 leather flying jacket.
Realm & Empire, 5 Earlham Street, WC2H 9LL, London is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00 and 12:00 to 18:00 on Sundays.
