The K Swiss Si 18 International is the latest in K Swiss' continued run of re-releasing classic shoes from their archives. This particular model has a lot going on aesthetically in that 1980s classic tennis shoe kind of way. Originally released in 1989 it looks the way that it does because it is unequivocally a performance tennis shoe - everything has a point. The Si 18 International had an at the time revolutionary D-R-Cinch lacing system and extra padding and cushioning on the sole of the foot. When you think about smashing a backhand across court you think of the twisting that goes through the body - this shoe was designed to help support that. The flags on the tongue and heel are the host nations of the four Tennis Pro Tour Grandslam tournaments (fact fans: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open).
