Brands love birthdays and to be fair they usually create something special to commemorate them. In this instance Japanese heritage brand Porter have released three bags with Italian jacket mavericks Stone Island. The general idea is that Stone Island implement their decades of textile research on to the Porter bags. The output is a backpack, a holdall bag and a shoulder bag are manufactured in Polypropylene and Nylon Metal.
If you're not a chemist or employed by Stone Island then this is what that means: Polypropylene is the lightest man-made fibre that there is but has a dense appearance as well as having antibacterial properties. Nylon Metal is a Stone Island in house canvas material that has an iridescent appearance, metallic even. Importantly for some people both the Porter and Stone Island logos are highly visible on each bag. There is an anniversary label sewn on to the inside.
The Porter x Stone Island bags are in fact part of a larger celebration of Porter's birthday which will have seven other releases this year. The other collaborators will be from the world of fashion and art so I suppose we can expect some prints as well as other heavy weight brands like Stone Island. Having seen the list, it's definitely something to look out for.
The collection is available from the Stone Island flagship store on Brewer Street in London and their website.
